In 2006 an opportunity came  for a Social Firm to set up and run a shop at The Hub - the new College campus.  The shop closed in December 09 because it was proving too much competition for the in-house catering team!

However, Broomby opened another Buster's shop on the college's University campus at High Melton in November 2008 and this ne is gong from strengh to strength. Residential students and staff had been asking for this on-site provision for years, and reports suggest they are making up for lost time!

The staff team sell everything (well, almost everything!) that students want from notebooks and pens to newspapers, bagged sweets and soft drinks. They also cater for students who want to buy a last minute present for a family member's birthday or a value for money card for a special occasion.

Perhaps the most important link with the College is that disadvantaged students get the opportunity to work in the shop, either on a paid basis or on work placements. The shop provides a safe place to learn real work skills, to gain the respect of peers, and to experience a bit of tlc when it is needed.
