Buster's staff at Sheffield

Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust (SHSC) has been working in partnership with Broomby since 2007 to develop a café facility and a shop at the Trust's newly refurbished premises for people with dementia at Grenoside Grange Hospital in Salt Box Lane.

Designed and built from scratch, the café and shop opened in May 2010 and trade is increasing with every week that passes. T he Café is open 5 days a week and provides a range of hot and cold food, fresh baking, snacks and wonderful coffee. It also provides buffets for meetings taking place on the site. The shop sells sweets, crisps, snacks, drinks, gifts, and has a special line in cosmetics and toiletries.

Lynn Potts is the experienced catering manager on site, and she is ably supported by a committed staff team and by two or more paid service users each day. Mental health service users are recruited and employed by Buster's as part of their vocational rehabilitation – some of them enjoying their first paid hours of employment for many years.
