Through its website – www.busterscoffee.co.uk – Buster's presents itself as an innovative coffee company selling great tasting Fairtrade coffee to caterers, commerce and the general public. The coffee is ground on site and sealed for freshness by its workforce, almost all of whom are severely disadvantaged in the labour market. Buster's was set up informally in 2002 by a group of learning disabled men and women who thought there must be more to days than day centres. Buster's provides a supportive working environment where staff can grow and develop both personally and professionally. There is a paid staff of three and an enthusiastic team of workers in training and volunteers all of whom share a sense of ownership of Buster's that gives them purpose, motivation and identity. They are ably supported by Rachel Neale, who is employed to help each of them achieve their potential. |
